Well you have a big problem. You don’t have a residential security system installed in your home. You are currently at risk of being the victim of a burglary. We want to help you to protect your family by showing how you can choose the right home security system for your needs and means.
There are over 250 separate Residential Security companies that offer different products and services. How do you go about selecting the right one? Well first lets decide what we need to have in a home security plan and system. We need to make sure that we have a great high quality system installed. There are some great names out there for you to choose from you will want to ask each company that you are going to evaluate, which products do they carry. You can then do a search for the makers of these products to see how others have reviewed them.
Don’t let yourself be sold. You have to remember when you call some of these big companies, they will often specialize more in sales, that is selling to you, than they do in the home security business. We don’t want to be sold. So we must go about finding a system to protect our families with care. We will want to “interview” each company that we are considering. You ask the questions and don’t decide the same day. Take your time to choose which system you like and which company you like.
The company is very important, they could install the best system, with all the bells and whistles, but if you are going to get any real protection from the system you want a company to monitor the alarms. If the alarm goes off you don’t want to have to fight off a burglar by yourself with an uproarious alarm buzzing in your ear at that, no, you want the police to show up while you go hide in a closet or something. right? Well maybe that’s just me.
So, the company has to provide great service. We want a company that has a strong call center that won’t have the response system waiting when your alarm goes off. We want the police to be notified and sent out within seconds of our alarm going off and a code or some other residential security team verification step not being taken, generally a phone call where you give the company your password.
Well, so far we have on our list of things to look for:
- High quality system (check out the maker of the system)
- Company with great customer support (they respond fast)
Presently let’s get down to the business of it all. The cost of the system. First, there are two things that go into the price of the security systems for your house. 1. the installation of the system its self, which includes the sensors, cameras, touch pads, etc. 2. the monthly monitoring fees.
We want to make sure that any intallation fee stays within the average range of $125 – $399. I have seen cheaper but I’ve also seen poorly installed equipment done by someone trying to save money and a burglar would simply by pass the system because of this. So don’t skimp on this part of protecting your family, intalling a system in important.
Next is the monthly fees, probably the most important of the costs that you will be considering. We want to pay for great service here. I have observed that average for this was around $29 – $79 per month. And of course there are some that are cheaper or should we say less expensive. Some do provide good service here for lower prices so this part depends on what you are really looking for. If you are just wanting something that will make a noisy noise and frighten people away, then you don’t really need to worry much about the monthly monitoring fees. But if you would like an all around protection for your family, then make sure that you are finding great service.
